LAS VEGAS, NV 2013_10, 2022_08

The first time I remember going to Las Vegas was in 2013. I went with my parents since my mom had a conference to attend. My favorite sight from that trip, aside from my newly discovered love for a plate full of Nutella crepes from the Paris hotel, were the lights of Fremont Street (the first and last images of this series).

The second time I went to Vegas, I left on a solo trip to attend a Weeknd concert in August of 2022. The Weeknd is definitely a top 5 all time artist for me, so I was beyond excited to see his show. It sweetened the pot that his entire album After Hours was written about Sin City. I woke up early on Saturday morning and went running to the Las Vegas sign, starting my sightseeing early and gaining a good grip of what the Strip offered. Street hustlers and feathery go go dancers were up and in business starting as early as 9am. After a shower, I headed to get some groceries. That day (before the concert), I spent gawking at the faux zoo inside the Bellagio lobby, sneaking into luxury stores at the Crystals to see interiors, and fending off drunk single dads at the pool where I was staying. I devoted my late afternoon and evening to getting ready for and enjoying the concert experience. The Weeknd totally lived up to the hype!

The Sunday after the concert, I was ready to do some typical "what happens in Vegas" activities. The only things I will admit to are: more time wandering the strip, treating myself to a nice dinner, going to the Ru Paul's Las Vegas Live drag show at the Flamingo, all which preceded a lovely night of clubbing. Of course, as any night out dancing and with libation, I became hungry so I grabbed some Dave's Hot Chicken on the way back to where I was staying.

The next Monday, I had a few hours to spare before I needed to board my flight so I went to Meow Wolf. This experience was incredible and I highly recommend anyone go see the artistic genius behind this immersive art.
